Sherman Alexie: RACIST?!!?!??!

In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, a white bully at Reardan made an extremely racist joke. At a talk at a Chicago high school, Sherman Alexie repeated the joke, using the “n” word and the “f” word. Some students were so offended that they walked out. I don’t agree that to make his point, Alexie had to use words that would extremely offend some people. But I do think that he had to give an example of the hate and cruel abuse that some people had to endure because of the way the look. The fact that one version of the book doesn’t have the joke in it just shows how some people, even a large organization, can be blind to the extreme racism in this country
